Summary0006048: URL-Information in ICS-files are lost
Description

The RFC for calendar events (RFC 5545) defines in section 3.8.4.6 (see https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5545#section-3.8.4.6) the possibility, to add an Uniform Resource Locator for more detailed and maybe changing information.
This information is currently neither shown nor imported in SoGo and therefore lost for the user. This may cause additional problems as the sender implies that the reciever has received and read the information given in this URL as other mail clients are showing this information.

There are two solution possibilities:
1) Full support of URL's in SoGo Webmail also with possibility to add own URL's (e.g. like meeting links for teams as proposed in 0006024) in invitations, showing the URL's in the invitation email (to see more background information before accepting or denying an invitation) and importing into calendar.
2) Limited support with importing the URL as first line into the calendar description with two ''CR''+''LF'' (if an URL is given) after the URL (this is not ideal, but possible without new UI changes to avoid the loss of information)

Steps To Reproduce

There are two possibilities for the SoGo-team:

1) Import an event with an URL into an calendar → information is neither shown nor imported in SoGo and therefore lost

2) Use any App which produces Calendar entries with URL like German Railway Timetable App:
2a) Download the App of Deutsche Bahn (Railway operator) from https://int.bahn.de/fr/informations-reservation/application-db-navigator
2b) Search for any connection
2c) Use the share button and choose add to calendar
2d) you'll see an link to the choosen connection like https://www.bahn.de/buchung/start?vbid=1e6f7c53%2Db348%2D4ba6%2Da9ff%2D2c78ff3a5378 which will give you the possibilty to recheck the connection later; this link is transferred RFC conform in the URL section
2e) add to a calendar in SoGo
2f) no link appears in the SoGo calendar entry → information is neither shown nor imported in SoGo and therefore lost

Hint:
URLs are usually supported as attachments via tag ATTACH.
They are also not displayed in the invitation email.
But they are imported from ics files.

Could this issue be solved togehter with 0006024 as the Microsoft Teams invites includes the links also as URL in the corresponding section?

Dear SoGo-Team,

We fear that you may have accidentally resolved this ticket with version 5.12, and it can be closed once you have checked it and agree.

At least URLs from the DB's German Railway booking system calendar entries are now correctly transferred to the calendar...

Kind regards,

The Bahnkonzept Team from Dresden/Germany

Hello,
Yes, it was an enhancement on 5.12.1 -> https://www.sogo.nu/news/2025/sogo-v5121-released.html
Didn't realize there was an opened issue about it.
