Summary0006003: events/appointments are created with a too big timespan
Description

When you create a new event by dragging or clicking on the calendar view, a new dialog appears with a "full day" task by default. So far, so good.

If you instead want a normal task and uncheck "Full day", the time span will unconditionally be of 8:00 to 17:00 by default. It would be great if instead, the span would be like it is for events created using the + button: starting ~now, and with a default length of just one hour.

First:
You are talking about events/appointments, not tasks.

Second:
That functionality is already available in all calendar views other than monthly.
Instead of double clicking in the calendar view, just drag your mouse from e.g. 10:00 to 12:00 o'clock and you will get an event/appointment on that date of the desired length.

In monthly view that is not possible, because there is no timeline to choose from.
