The server responded with an error.
The request for “Abcd ABC 1.23.4 release” in “T” in account “@account” failed.

The server responded with
“501”
to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.

In the server's log this error pops up:

Upgrade SOPE.

Maybe I misunderstand this, but I thought, that SoGO is compatible with Ubuntu 18.04, which I am using as well. It is up-to-date and I guess all requirements are installed to continue to run SoGO.

Searching for SOPE gives my this result:

aptitude search SOPE | grep "^i"

i A libsope-appserver4.9 - SOPE application server libraries
i A libsope-core4.9 - Core libraries of the SOPE application server
i A libsope-gdl1-4.9 - GNUstep database libraries for SOPE
i A libsope-ldap4.9 - SOPE libraries for LDAP access
i A libsope-mime4.9 - SOPE libraries for MIME processing
i A libsope-xml4.9 - SOPE libraries for XML processing
i A sope4.9-gdl1-mysql - MySQL connector for SOPE's fork of the GNUstep database environment
i A sope4.9-libxmlsaxdriver - XML Parser for SOPE's SAX engine

There is no newer version of SOPE as far as I can see. How could I update SOPE on an Ubuntu 18.04?

As far as I understand the sope packages are part of your PPA and are dependencies when installing SOGo.

Our apt is using "deb https://packages.inverse.ca/SOGo/nightly/4/ubuntu/ bionic bionic"

and I did all upgrade (apt dist-upgrade) already. It is still not working.

I updated last time on the 5th of May and it affected following packages:
libsbjson2.3 libsope-appserver4.9 libsope-core4.9 libsope-gdl1-4.9 libsope-ldap4.9 libsope-mime4.9 libsope-xml4.9 sogo sogo-activesync sope4.9-gdl1-mysql sope4.9-libxmlsaxdriver

E.g. the libsope-core version is:
Package: libsope-core4.9
Version: 4.9.r1664.SHORTDATE

Just a few more thing to this one. It is probably more like a major bug or blocker, because the calendar server is basically out of service. It is still possible to create entries for yourself, but as soon as you put other people on the event, it fails. So whenever you get invited or invite others, it doesn't work anymore. No collaboration is possible.

also it is a bit strange, that the sope package names are not "complete". In /var/cache/apt/archive they show up as with "SHORTDATE":
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 14184 May 14 12:46 libsbjson2.3_4.9.r1664.SHORTDATE_amd64.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 792368 May 14 12:46 libsope-appserver4.9_4.9.r1664.SHORTDATE_amd64.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 293432 May 14 12:46 libsope-core4.9_4.9.r1664.SHORTDATE_amd64.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 141784 May 14 12:46 libsope-gdl1-4.9_4.9.r1664.SHORTDATE_amd64.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 44632 May 14 12:46 libsope-ldap4.9_4.9.r1664.SHORTDATE_amd64.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 262704 May 14 12:46 libsope-mime4.9_4.9.r1664.SHORTDATE_amd64.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 120724 May 14 12:46 libsope-xml4.9_4.9.r1664.SHORTDATE_amd64.deb

and one last thing: my last update of a sope package was not on the 5th, but on the 14th of May. It assume that one broke the calendar server then:

There is no version to upgrade to.

I can only downgrade like this:

# apt-get install libsope-appserver4.9=4.9.r1664.20200603 -V

The following packages will be DOWNGRADED:
   libsope-appserver4.9 (4.9.r1664.SHORTDATE => 4.9.r1664.20200603)
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 downgraded, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

For the linux system SHORTDATE is higher then 20200603.

And downgrading packages like the core wants to remove sogo and other packages with it:

# apt-get install libsope-core4.9=4.9.r1664.20200603 -V
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
   gnustep-make (2.7.0-3)
   gobjc (4:7.4.0-1ubuntu2.3)
   gobjc-7 (7.5.0-3ubuntu1~18.04)
   liblasso3 (2.5.1-0ubuntu1.1)
   liboath0 (2.6.1-1)
   libobjc-7-dev (7.5.0-3ubuntu1~18.04)
   libsbjson2.3 (4.9.r1664.SHORTDATE)
   libsope-appserver4.9 (4.9.r1664.20200603)
   libsope-ldap4.9 (4.9.r1664.20200603)
   libsope-mime4.9 (4.9.r1664.20200603)
   libwbxml2-0 (0.11.6-1)
   libxmlsec1 (1.2.25-1build1)
   libxmlsec1-openssl (1.2.25-1build1)
   memcached (1.5.6-0ubuntu1.2)
   sope4.9-libxmlsaxdriver (4.9.r1664.20200603)
Use 'apt autoremove' to remove them.
The following packages will be REMOVED:
   libsope-gdl1-4.9 (4.9.r1664.SHORTDATE)
   sogo (4.3.2.20200612-1)
   sogo-activesync (4.3.2.20200612-1)
   sope4.9-gdl1-mysql (4.9.r1664.20200603)
The following packages will be DOWNGRADED:
   libsope-core4.9 (4.9.r1664.SHORTDATE => 4.9.r1664.20200603)
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 downgraded, 4 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

I fixed it now with re-installing the whole thing and cleaning apt caches:

apt remove sogo
apt clean
apt autoclean
apt install sogo
