When you write a new mails, and click on the contact button, select your recipient(s), now click anywhere in the body of your mail, and press suppr: it will always ask if you want to delete a contact (the last one you've selected). Even if you close the contacts tab, it stays selected. The only way to get the focus back in the body of the mail is to ctrl+click on the selected contact.
