Summary0002645: Packagename on Debian is changed from Samba4 to Samba in wheezy-backports
Description

On the official repository wheezy-backports the package name of samba4 has been changed to samba and is now version 4.1.5, which installs without errors.

However when I install the openchangeserver package from the inverse.ca debian wheezy repository it has the dependency samba4 >= 4.0.0 which conflicts with my newer version from the samba package.

I would like to ask if you want you add samba >= 4.0.0 as an alternative package name to the openchange depency list to solve this issue.

Just FYI how you could make it work for now, you could use equivs-control/equivs-build to make fake packages for libdcerpc0, libsamba-hostconfig0, libdcerpc-server0, libsamba-util0, libndr0, libsamdb0, libsamba-credentials0, samba4, then install backported samba, libsmbsharemodes0, and continue with other installations.

I'm also looking forward to see an proper one, it would be better if it works with jessie official openchange.

Thank you clementhk, for the suggestion. I didn't come across this trick yet. We learn something every day using Linux don't we? :-)

I am going to test this for our stable environment. In the meantime I am also testing with the samba/openchange/sogo packages in jessie, which seem all to be pretty much up to date. But unfortunatly this is not ideal for our stable environment.

No longer relevant. We now use the backports packages of Samba on Wheezy.
